I began my educational career at Mercedes Independent School District in 2002. As a generalist certified teacher, I taught 6th grade Science for 2 years and ELAR for Weslaco Independent School District for 2 ½ years. From 2005-2008 I was a Gear Up Counselor for Weslaco Independent School District. In 2008, I was hired from Mercedes Independent School District as a School Counselor and continue to serve the district today as a Counselor for Sgt. Chacon Middle School. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and hold a Masters Degree from the University of Texas Pan American in Counseling and Guidance.
My counseling philosophy is that all students achieve academic, career, personal and social needs. I believes it is important to create a positive environment with equality and respect for all her students. I hope to inspire, guide and support students in hopes that they strive to be the very best they can in this world. I reside in Mercedes with my husband Joey and our four beautiful children: Joseph, Luke, Elise and Charlotte.

I am excited to be a new member of the Chacon Middle School Tiger Family! Currently in my thirteenth year in education, my experience ranges from 5th grade Bilingual Reading to 9-12 grade Speech and Physical Education. I am a graduate of St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas having received my bachelors degree in Political Science and a minor in Theater. Through Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, I received my Masters in Education-School Counseling and will be receiving my certificate in Clinical Mental Health in August of 2020.
As a counselor, it is my philosophy that all students be encouraged to be their best self by acquiring the necessary communication, academic, and social skills to promote and propel their life in a positive and mentally healthy manner. I am the proud mother of a loving eleven year old boy that definitely keeps me on my toes. Together, with God at our center, we make a great team.
I look forward to a successful school year and getting to know our awesome students! GO TIGERS!
