Our district and campus personnel engage in medical emergency response team drills throughout the academic year to equip them with the skills needed for an effective response to medical emergencies.
Earlier this week, the Mercedes ISD Medical Emergency Response Team conducted a comprehensive drill at the Mercedes Early College Academy. This simulation provided a valuable opportunity for staff to review and evaluate response procedures in the context of emergency scenarios. This ongoing commitment to preparedness ensures a prompt and coordinated response when faced with critical situations.
The drill, overseen by District Nurse Veronica Bustamante, RN, had the participation of MECA Principal Ramon Mejia, MECA nurse Judy Hernandez, LVN, Department of Safe Schools staff, and included a teacher and student. Mercedes Mighty Tiger musicians traveled to Harlingen today to participate in an all-day rehearsal for the Region 28 TMEA All-Region Orchestra Clinic and Concert. š»š¹š
Tomorrow will include another five hours of rehearsal and then the students will take the stage for their much-anticipated concert. The concert will begin at 5 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Harlingen Performing Arts Center.

Jaylynn Luna, a junior at Mercedes Early College Academy and Varsity Tiger Cheerleader, showcased her talents with the SOSA (Spirit of San Antonio) Pom Squad during the University of Texas at San Antonio v. Rice University football game on Saturday, November 11 at the Alamodome.

This morning Mercedes ISD honored our district and community veterans with a breakfast organized by Mercedes Early College Academy administration, staff and students to thank them for their brave service and sacrifice. Their commitment to duty, both in the armed forces and within our school community, exemplifies the values of discipline, integrity, and selflessness.
